7 Reasons Why Parenting is the Most Important Job On Earth

  1. Home
  2. FAMILY and PARENTING

It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of adult life and think that you don’t have time for parenting. But the truth is, that parenthood is one of the most rewarding aspects of our lives. And it’s something that we can all do – even if we don’t “necessarily” have jobs. Here are 7 reasons why parenting is the most important job on earth:

1. You Are Responsible For Their Future

You have built their future. You have shaped them, taught them how to speak, dress, eat, work, play, love, read, think, dream, fail...you've been responsible for everything they know. You are responsible for what they become. You are responsible for making sure their life is filled with joy, laughter, peace, happiness, success, contentment, fulfillment, hope, and pride. If you do not make their childhood great, then you don't deserve to enjoy theirs. Your children are your greatest asset, and you must protect them at any cost.

2. You Can Be A Force Of Good In People's Lives

Your kids are going to change the world. You're going to inspire people who weren't inspired before. You'll help shape others into the best version of themselves. When someone looks back on their own childhood, they're going to remember that time period fondly, but they won't remember the bullies, the mean teachers, the bad friends, the mean neighbors, or the shitty parents. But they will remember the good times, especially those times spent around you.

3. They Will Make You Stronger

The truth is, no matter how old we get, whether we're married, have our own families, or are single, parenting gives us a sense of purpose and value that nothing else does. We feel powerful, confident, strong, and capable. Our relationships improve, our self-esteem rises, and our faith grows stronger. All these things keep us from slipping back into the same patterns of behavior that caused our problems in the first place.

4. You Can Help Them Live A Long And Healthy Life

Yes, you might be busy. Yes, you might have trouble keeping track of your kid's schedules. Yes, it can sometimes feel like the job never ends, but your kids are worth it. There's no greater gift than giving them the opportunity to live a long and healthy life. You'll have more time later to enjoy yourself than you can imagine now.

5. You Know What's Really Going On

As a parent, you know what's really happening in the house. You know when kids have gotten hurt, you know if they're having fun, you know if they need something. As a parent, you know the real story. You know the real feelings behind all the words being said, both good and bad. So you can deal with the issues head-on, instead of letting them fester and build up. Kids have a way of finding out about all kinds of things when they start watching you.

6. You Get To See Them Grow Up

When you look down on your kids right now, it feels like they barely exist, but soon enough they'll be out of diapers and running around playing catch with you in the backyard. That's when you'll realize just how big they got, and just how much they've changed since you last saw them. It's amazing!

7. You Get To Witness Miracle After Miracle

It seems like every day you wake up and it's another miracle. Every night you go to bed and pray for a little more time. Every weekend your kids show you that you can't even begin to understand what they're capable of accomplishing. You watch them fall asleep at night and know that they have dreams still left to fulfill. You witness miracles every day, and each day you hold onto hope that you're witnessing the birth of another miracle.
